What is a Paragraph 5 exemption licence?

A Paragraph 5 exemption licence allows eligible landowners to operate a small glamping site without a full planning application, provided the site meets the relevant criteria and accommodates no more than five temporary, Caravan Act-compliant units.

The Crown & Canopy Glamping Club is an exempted organisation recognised by Natural England, enabling us to assess, certify and manage exemption licences on your behalf.

We combine specialist planning expertise with bespoke architectural design to help you explore your land’s potential and create a glamping space that works with its setting and reflects your vision. Exemption doesn’t have to mean compromising on creativity, ambition or design.

How an exemption licence works?

    We review your site to assess its suitability and confirm whether an exemption licence is the right route for your land.

  • Application & documentation 

    We prepare and submit your application, including the supporting documents required by Natural England and your Local Planning Authority.

  • Consultation & liaison 

    We liaise with your Local Planning Authority and carry out neighbour consultation where required, keeping you informed throughout the process.

  • Certification & compliance 

    Once approved, we issue your exemption licence certificate and manage your annual renewal, helping you maintain compliance year after year.
