Crown & Canopy have been commissioned by The National Forest to write The National Forest Sustainable Tourism Accommodation Design Guide

The National Forest Company (NFC) has engaged Crown & Canopy to develop a National Forest Sustainable Tourism Accommodation Design Guide for use by local authority planning officers, planning applicants, existing accommodation providers and potential accommodation developers/investors. The guide will help to facilitate the growth and development of distinctive and ‘on brand’ sustainable tourism accommodation in the National Forest.

It will complement the National Forest’s existing Tourism Growth Plan to develop the Forest as an exemplar sustainable tourism destination. It will advise existing and potential accommodation providers on practical interventions that will support the Forest’s emerging 25-year ‘greenprint’ vision, including creating a low carbon and sustainable economy, forming a resilient environment and the creation of a National Forest sense of place. It will be a practical tool which supports local planning departments to guide future accommodation investment in a way that is sustainable and delivers maximum benefit for the environment, local economy and communities.
